I play viola for the Vancouver Pops Orchestra, and it’s such an awesome, friendly, welcoming community! A great place to be if you already have some experience and if you’re just starting out and want to try playing in an orchestra or singing in a choir.

My sons have been taking part in the program through our Vancouver elementary school for two years now and we have been thrilled. The school program is accommodating a range of experience, and we have found that Tom and Lorraine do a wonderful job of balancing these challenges. One son has moved on to a middle school band and is able to participate in the jazz ensemble with the older kids (which he LOVES) and I believe that this is as a result of the foundation he learned with Tom. My second son gets up early with no complaints to go to the program weekly, and my daughter is awaiting her opportunity to join the program. I have no hesitations recommending this program to any budding musician, and would definitely recommend the school program for those who are interested.

I love this organization! It is the perfect way to dive into music, whether you sing, play an instrument, or are adventurous enough to try both! The people are very friendly and it is a great place to make long lasting friendships. They hold spectacular concerts at the Chan Centre with unique selections of Disney/Hollywood/Broadway repertoire, making rehearsals fun! Long live the Vancouver Pops! 🙂

Tom is an amazing instructor with an ear for producing exciting ensemble music. Highly recommended if you enjoy playing with others and want to improve your skills.

If this program is offered up at your public school, beware. Our experience was beyond disappointing. We were charged for a program that was not even close to delivered. Overcrowded class with all instruments, at every level, lumped together. A few of the "instructors" ended up being parents of students, and some instruments didn't even have an instructor. Kids just sat there not knowing what to do for months of classes. To say that we are disappointed in what this program offers is a massive understatement.

Vancouver Pops is a great place to go if you like to sing in a choir or like to play in an orchestra. You can level up your confidence and whatever you do. Singing or playing a instrument.
