Excellent food at a reasonable price, served by two warm and sweet little old ladies in a no frills utilitarian restaurant. The wonton soup was delicious. Huge wontons! They have General Tao Shrimp! Big juicy shrimp battered and deep-fried in a sweet, sour and spicy sauce with carrots, onions and bell peppers. Complimentary jasmine tea. We also got free wafers for dessert 🙂 Cash or debit only. No credit cards.

Owners are so kind. Food is bursting with flavour! They even bring you little treats at the end. If you’re looking for simple but delicious food look no further. We can’t wait to return.

The owners are lovely people. Welcoming, friendly, hospitable. I like the vibe, it’s a small, unassuming place. Authentic. Reasonably priced.

The problem is the food. The flavor just isn’t there. They have all the basics down, nice big wontons, but the broth is so bland and lacks a distinctive flavour. For example, even adding fresh chopped coriander to the soup would significantly elevate the taste. The chicken looks good, but when I tasted it, it gave me the impression it may have been cooked in motor oil. Strange, off putting chemical taste. Very disappointing.
I tried it because I saw a glowing review from some reviewer, but upon trying it myself, I cannot recommend this place. I hope the owners re-work their recipes and improve the flavors.

I am surprised this place is still here. Great home cooking from two super warm Taiwanese ladies who treat you like your grandma would.

I absolutely enjoyed the thick noodles that come with the beef noodles but would enjoy it more if it were richer. But I suppose thats more to the home cooking style they have there, which is great as well. Very much enjoyed the braised chicken leg.

Eclectic as the music playing in the background is, it is very much like it came from the time when Taiwan was still under Martial Law (until the late 80s), which adds to that nostalgic old-schooled hole in the wall place you may find in Taiwan.

They were telling me this place has been in business since 1995 and they've been working there ever since so as much as they are both up and running in good spirit, and that i want them to last super long. Come before retire!

Very cute hole in the wall! A time warp in the best way. The women who run it are super sweet, and the prices are absolutely amazing. Free tea with your soup is never a bad thing in my book. Only complaint is that the broth was just a little too salty, but that just could have been how it was that day. Will be back!

For a casual dining experience with a home-cooked feel, this is a great option. The open kitchen and kind ladies cooking and serving made me feel right at home. The menu has expanded with many Chinese staples and comfort food such as hit and sour soup noodles. While the menu is near heavy, there has been an expansion in vegetarian menu options. The service was casual but friendly as tea was provided and refilled and the ladies were regularly checking on us and making sure we had enough spicy sauce. Will definitely return. Just a heads up that credit card is not accepted and last time we came the Interac machine was down so it was cash only.
