proud to see modern takes on filipino food but a little disappointed with the lasita offerings. other than the lechon (which was top tier), everything felt too pricy for what you get and felt like they spent more time curating the vibe than honing in on the food. overall, would probably not come back but so glad i tried.

ube lager: pleasantly surprised, really enjoyed the body and complexity in this one

chicken inasal: dry and lacked the crispy skin texture of typical grilled inasal. would skip.

lechon: really enjoyed this dish and thought it was cooked well.

chicken fat rice: solid rice offering.

atchara: good as a side to offset the rich meats but too expensive for what it is

eggplant & crab fat omelette: seemingly a modern take on tortang talong but also enjoyed this more than i thought. got nice seafood umami flavor and egg was perfectly cooked.

The eggplant and kabocha was very good. The pork sisig along with garlic fried rice was excellent. The pork was crispy, flavorful, juicy, oily. Atmosphere was very nicely put together.

Lasita is only open for dinner, and they're closed Sundays. Along with the other businesses, it makes this building eerily empty sometimes. Parking in Chinatown is not too bad. There are metered street spots around - $0.50/hour between 4-8 PM, max 2 hours. There are also $5 parking lots.

My eating partner and I didn't have a reservation, but they were able to seat us when we got there at 5:30 PM, their opening time. The hostess was very friendly, but our server seemed tired.

Since they have rotisserie in their name, we decided on a half chicken. It came out great and not dry. There were two small sauce cups - one with garlic and one with the toyomansi. This was annoying to cut and eat, but that's just what you get with rotisserie chicken. I'm glad to know they do their chicken right.

The scallop kinilaw $20 tasted good, a bit spicy, but it left a lot to be desired. I wouldn't get this again, and I wouldn't recommend it.

The sizzlin' shroom sisig $20 was a vegetarian take on sisig, which is usually pork. This dish was eh, as was the garlic fried rice.

Sadly I don't see myself coming back. For a dinner that was almost $50 per person, I could go elsewhere with better food and better service.

I considered giving more stars but I just have to be honest. The food was terrible. The pork was all fat and chewy af, completely inedible. The chicken was dry and nothing special. And there was a noodle dish that was sour and a wedge salad with no flavor. Silly of me to go off of an Eater LA recommendation I guess.

Great vibes.
Chill staff.
Small bite plates that are delicious.
Note that as of this review they don't have a full liquor license.
Worth it.

PSA! This is not your fast food Filipino restaurant where you're going to pay $10 for a 2 item plate with rice. If that's what you're looking for, don't come here (nothing wrong with places like Manila Sunset, etc. I'm simply addressing the unfair 1 star reviews)

This is an elevated Filipino restaurant infused with playful and tasty ingredients from the chef. You are paying for an experience along with amazing food.

Went here last night for my cousin's girlfriend's bday and we were all pleased with our order.

The taste of every plate will give you a combination of nostalgia (Lola's and Tita's cooking from the motherland) and a sense of pride knowing that Filipino food has not only become mainstream in the U.S. but is also fitting really well with ingredients that other cultures use.

We got to meet the owner/chef as he was helping with the service. Always a great sign as it's evident everything comes from passion and love.

I've been to other places like Spoon & Pork (really great as well) but the ambiance and energy from this place, along with the food, is the reason why I'll be back to bring all of my non Filipino friends looking to try Filipino food for the first time.

*Make reservations as it did take 2hrs for us to be seated (we decided to just walk in).

Cozy, quirky, original & hidden place in Chinatown run by great people. The place is located inside of a commercial passage. It's a small and cozy orange (yes, all orange) space with great lighting.

Great selection of natural wine and really really good food. We ordered the chicken of course, but also the kale salad and the fried garlic rice. Amazing experience. A refreshing new place in LA
