This place has gone completely down hill and not even edible. The management and staff are extremely disrespectful and chaotic. I waited for a sandwich to be made, opened it to eat immediately and the bread was literally wet. I asked for them to remake the sandwich that wasn’t even edible. They were completely rude. I never wanted a refund. I just wanted a proper sandwich that I ordered. They don’t even make there chips from scratch anymore. This place used to be one of my favorites and now is not even edible.

This place feels extremely overrated. I came across tons of reviews of Bub and Pop’s, with people raving about its old-school vibe, fresh ingredients, and high-quality sandwiches, but I was disappointed in a few ways. The service was quick, but the staff at the counter were snappy and not very welcoming. The prices aren’t just a bit steep—they’re outright expensive. An Italian sub costs over $19 if you pay with a card, which is wild for a sandwich. Even after paying with cash and getting a discount, it still came to more than $17 with tax—still a bit too high. When I finally got the sandwich, the bread was soggy from all the oil, and the meat had an odd taste. I’ve had plenty of Italian subs, but this one was overwhelmingly salty. Regardless, I appreciate the concept of a sandwich shop running out of a small, homey spot—it’s got a cool vibe and potential. But for the price, it just wasn’t worth it.

Delicious tasty sandwiches. A bit pricey, but good quality. Definitely recommend.

Rich boy: reminds me of a shrimp po boy. Juicy crunchy shrimp with a punch of flavor

Porchetta: reminds me of dinics roast pork sandwich in Philly with the broccoli rabe

Very overrated! Very poorly put together and very messy to eat especially when sauce is all over the bread despite me eating it there! Portion was huge but percentage of meat was tiny.

I cannot not talk about how great this place is I've had three sandwiches from there and they have all been pretty much spectacular I've eaten at other sandwich shops in DC including Compliments Only, Dupont Market this is a cut above all of them we are so lucky to have them.

I had the roasted turkey, I had the Italian and I had the Philly cheesesteak with American cheese all of them EXCELLENT.

Great team at the front of the counter, the mom here was fantastic, just all around greatness. They don't take Amex, bring cash, no regrets.

Very good with way better-than-chain designer deli sandwiches made to order like brisket and a serious cheesesteak. It's a very casual luncheonette style spot, small, about 8 tables plus a couple outside, better to go other than 12-1. They do good breakfast stuff early but the great fried egg sandwich is all day. Now open til 7 except 4 on Saturday when they do a fancy serious small reserved dinner for just 6 or so as the son is a real chef trained at famous places. Those liking mom and pop individualistic eateries will appreciate their efforts.

Titanic. Gargantuan. Leviathan(ish?). All words that I would use to describe the 12” Pepperoni Pizza Steak from Bub and Pop’s just as much as I would for mythical sea monsters.

Both that sandwich, and the Real Obama which my wife ordered in a much more reasonable 6” size, were dizzyingly packed to the brim with juicy, mouth watering meat, cheese, sauce, and vegetables. It’s the type of sandwich that you need to gasp for breaths between bites so it doesn’t drag you beneath the depths of a flavour abyss.

Holding it all barely together are delightfully crunchy and chewy hoagie rolls that do a titanic effort but ultimately leave you needing a sink and towel, depending on the sandwich you order. The Real Obama might be forgiving enough to let you rush off to a quick WH Press Conference, but abandon all hope, ye who enter (the pepperoni pizza steak into your mouth).

If this review leaves you chuckling, wondering if I’m being a tad dramatic (but maybe not as much as Jules Vern or Herman Melville), then just know that the sandwich made me do it.
